Watsontown and Williamsport Man Charged with Stealing Copper Piping and Wire

LEWIS TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY — Two men are facing charges following a copper theft that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage. State Police say 46-year-old Thomas Smith of Williamsport and 23-year-old Christian Krisher of Watsontown are accused of stealing copper valued at about $5,000.

Police say the burglary happened in April of 2024 at a home along Lycoming Creek Road. Troopers report copper piping, copper wire, and aluminum floorboard heaters were taken.

Investigators say shoe prints at the scene later matched boots seized from both suspects. The lab report was completed in . Both men were arraigned earlier this month, with bail set at $75,000 each.
