Two teens captured after escaping juvenile facility

COAL TOWNSHIP — Two of four teenage girls–who fled Northwestern Academy last week–have been captured. They were found in a Philadelphia suburb Sunday. The News Item reports Coal Township police tracked the girls to Upper Darby after being tipped to a phone number one girl used to contact a friend.

Upper Darby police took a 17-year-old from Berks County and a 15-year-old from Tioga County into custody. They face felony counts of robbery, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, and theft, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and escape.

Still at large are a 14-year-old from Dauphin County and a 16-year-old from Delaware County. The four assaulted and robbed a worker at the Northwestern juvenile detention center last Thursday. The attacked the woman, locked her in a closet, took her purse and stole her vehicle. (Jennifer Wakeman)
