Teen Killed In Head-On Crash Near Jersey Shore
JERSEY SHORE — A 19-year-old Nippenose Township, Lycoming County man died in a head-on crash on Route 44, according to the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Charles Kiessling says Lucas Smithgall lost control while driving south Thursday evening and crossed into the northbound lane, where his vehicle was struck by a truck.
Smithgall was pronounced dead at the scene around 6pm. Three people in the truck were taken to UPMC Williamsport for treatment. Kiessling says Smithgall died of multiple blunt-force injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
