Sunbury Mayor Brosious: Crime Increase Not Going Unnoticed

SUNBURY – Sunbury Mayor Josh Brosious says wants residents to know there has been an increase in crime in the city recently and the city’s police force is on it, and making arrests.

This comes after Sunbury police said at a news conference earlier this year–they’d been cracking down on recent violent crime, “I know people see these violent crimes have been up, but the good thing on our end is that all these suspects have been caught. So the crime hasn’t gone unnoticed. If you look at their statistics, they’re out there.”

There have been two fatal shootings this year, one in May, and the other last Sunday. Numerous other drive-by shootings and other violent crimes have been reported since the start of the year.

Brosious says the city is also working to implement a camera system at all city entrances, “So we can monitor, if something does happen, we can narrow it down ‘Hey, where did this individual go?’ to try to get them off the streets as quickly as possible. If individuals know, ‘Hey there’s someone watching all the time,’ this is another step to help cut down that crime rate.”
