Fatal crash after police pursuit
PORT TREVORTON — A Port Trevorton man died in a crash after a state police pursuit Saturday morning. Selinsgrove state troopers tell us, around 3:00a.m. 31-year-old Jeremiah Herrold crashed his vehicle into a tree on Produce Road in Union Township, Snyder County. Herrold was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, where he succumbed to injuries. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
According to police, the fatal incident happened after troopers saw Herrold speeding through Selinsgrove. They say they tried to stop him, but Herrold led police on a chase using Routes 11/15 south, Route 35 and near Silver Creek Road. Police say they eventually stopped their pursuit, but later discovered Herrold had crashed his vehicle on Produce Road.
State Police were assisted by Selinsgrove Borough Police, Port Trevorton Fire and Rescue and DHL EMS. The investigation into the incident continues. (Sara Bartlett)
