WEST PERRY TOWNSHIP, SNYDER COUNTY — An early morning crash in West Perry Township, Snyder County, has claimed the life of a 42-year-old woman. State police say the two-vehicle crash happened at 5:50am on Route 35 near Cherry Hill Road in Snyder County.
Troopers say the SUV of 42-year-old Meghaan Yates of Mt. Pleasant Mills was traveling north and crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and struck an oncoming pickup truck. State police Yates was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the windshield. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, Aaron Alderfer of Richfield, was not wearing a seatbelt and was flown to Geisinger Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. State police continue to investigate the crash. The road was closed for five hours. Numerous first responders were at the scene.
