SUNBURY — Cautious optimism…that describes the demeanor of the Shikellamy school board president as the district prepares for teacher contract negotiations next week. Wendy Wiest said the board is also looking forward to the negotiations meeting with the Shikellamy Education Association.
Wiest says the goal is to reach a good agreement, “We need to quickly arrive at an equable situation for the teachers and the school district and I think that’s everyone’s goal at this point.” The meeting will be Thursday February 19 to negotiate teacher’s contracts. The 190 teachers have been working without a contract this year and they recently authorized a strike. (Lauren Koch)
