SUNBURY — The Shikellamy school board Thursday fired high school principal Ernest Jackson. In a special meeting that lasted less than fifteen minutes, the board approved two resolutions.

The first found Jackson guilty of persistent and willful violation of school laws, persistent negligence, willful neglect of duties and immorality and not guilty of intemperance. That resolution was passed with the only dissenting vote cast by James Garman.

The second resolution removed and terminated Jackson’s employment with the district. James Garman and Kellie Cianflone voted against the motion.

Jackson’s attorney Kimberly Best expressed disappointment with the board’s decision, “The outcome’s disappointing, and we’ll consider an appeal. There’s no basis in law or fact for the conclusion that the board reached tonight.” Best said Jackson had not yet decided whether he would appeal to the Court of Common Pleas. (Jennifer Wakeman)
