SHAMOKIN DAM – A Shamokin Dam man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted and robbed workers at a pizza shop in Monroe Township, Snyder County. State police say Michael Runko was intoxicated when he entered the pizza shop Saturday around 11:45 p.m., demanding free pizza.
Runko is accused of running past the counter and grabbing several pizzas and assaulting an employee in the kitchen. Troopers say he demanded all of the money and struck a worker in the face. He is also accused of grabbing a brick and throwing it at the worker. Runko fled the scene and state police searched the area before spotting him in the area of Chubb Alley, hiding in a bush.
Runko was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, public drunkenness and other charges. He was sent to the Snyder County Prison. (Ali Stevens)
