Gordner: Wolf veto is hurting Pennsylvanians
SUNBURY – Budget talks continued in Harrisburg last week. Majority whip Senator John Gordner (R-27th, Berwick) has been part of the negotiations and he says despite areas of agreement, the Governor’s veto of the entire budget is hurting Pennsylvanians.
“Instead of keeping those numbers and working on the other ones, the Governor has vetoed all of it. As a result of that women’s centers, counties, school districts are hurting right now when they should be getting some funds,” he said.
WKOK asked Sen. Gordner about the Governor’s statement that the Republican budget is balanced using smoke and mirrors, “We can raise taxes or we can look at other options. Sometime they’re one-time fixes and yeah, they’re some one-time fixes in this budget.”
According to Gordner, taking funds from line items with extra money in them is a better choice than raising taxes. Pennsylvania has been without a budget for nearly three months. The state senator was speaking in Cameron Park Friday in Sunbury, during a GOP rally. (Jennifer Wakeman)
