PA Suing Trump Administration over Halting of SNAP Payments

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania is bracing for the loss of SNAP benefits for families who use the supplemental food income.

Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis is calling on the federal government to immediately restore funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, “We’ve joined a coalition of 25 states and the District of Columbia in suing the Trump administration for unlawfully suspending SNAP.  I want to be clear.  This is the first time since the program began in 1964 that SNAP payments have been halted.”

Lt. Gov. Davis visited the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank  with Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and Department of Human Services leaders to discuss the crisis. He says two million Pennsylvanians will lose access to SNAP during the US government shutdown.
