MONTOURSVILLE — In our region, PennDOT prepared roads ahead of some forecast ‘frozen precipitation’ today. Transportation officials urged motorists to limit travel and remain alert to changing road conditions.
The state Department of Transportation said crews pre-treated major routes using salt brine to help prevent ice from bonding to pavement. Officials said equipment, salt, and anti-skid materials were fully stocked across the nine-county District 3 region.
PennDOT warned roads could appear wet while actually icy, especially on bridges and ramps. Officials said conditions could be checked statewide using the 511PA system before traveling.
AccuWeather says we’ll receive an inch or so of mixed precipitation and roads could be slippery.
