Pastor Couple Injured In South Williamsport Fire

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — The  Gazette reports that a husband and wife, both pastors at a local church, were seriously injured late  when a fire destroyed their home on Bedaro Drive. Fire officials say John and Carol Butler were taken to UPMC Williamsport and later transferred to a burn unit.

According to the  Gazette, neighbor Eric Smith, a retired city fire platoon chief, rescued Carol Butler from the burning garage after hearing her screams. Borough fire Chief Jeff Trammell says John Butler escaped on his own, while Smith guided Carol to safety.
