Organization helping pets and their families

HowlOWeenLEWISBURG – A non-profit organization helping pets and their families continues to grow and will host an upcoming 5K race.  Each Life Matters was founded by the Hartzell family of Lewisburg.

Lewisburg High School junior Jordan Hartzell said, “We started this organization in 2011.  There was actually an instance when someone contacted my mom and they had a dog who was in a lot of pain and they needed veterinary care, but they couldn’t afford the expensive care.  My sisters and I realized that we needed something that could help people like this and other people, so we started  Each Life Matters and it’s really just grown from there.”

They also are working to unite lost pets with their families, “People contact our organization and they say they need veterinary care, or they have a lost dog or they have a found dog.  So, we’ve started from veterinary care and we’ve worked up to networking, and now we are actually working on animal education and welfare.  Our Facebook page has really grown and that’s basically our base.”

Each Life Matters is hosting a Howl-oween 5K fun run on October 25th, with all proceeds supporting veterinary care for families who can’t afford it.  The race will begin Pawling Sports Complex in Lewisburg at 1 p.m.  You can register online at www.eachlifematters.org.  You can also find them on Facebook at Each Life Matters.  (Ali Stevens)
