NORTHUMBERLAND — PennDOT officials will be meeting with local Ridge Road residents at the Point Township Municipal Building this evening. They will be there to discuss the Route 147 Interchange. The open house meeting will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. It is intended for local residents and not the general public.
The proposed Route 147 Interchange is part of the Central Susquehanna Thruway Project. The interchange would send traffic onto Ridge Road in Point Township. This upsets some Point Township residents, including Dick Updegraff, who says the interchange will turn Ridge Road into an extension of the bypass, bringing heavy traffic to the area.
However, the Point Township Supervisors support the Route 147 Interchange, saying it could bring a large amount growth to the area. The public is not invited to attend the meeting this evening. (Ali Stevens)
