Awarding Young Eagle Scout
NORTHUMBERLAND — The Northumberland borough council plans on recognizing and honoring an Eagle Scout from Northumberland. McCray VanKirk will be given a borough award at his Eagle Scout ceremony April 11. He will be honored for his active involvement in building a bridge at the Howling Hollow Dog Park.
Jim Troup, borough council president, says (VanKirk) deserves the praise, “It’s a beautiful bridge. We give him great praise for what he did so we’d like everyone to attend from council to show our support to him for the fine job he did. He’s outstanding young man and there should be more like him. “
Troup says it’s important to recognize kids for their achievements, “I think it’s real important to recognize a young man or woman when they do something outstanding for their community. It shows their passion not only for the community but for helping everybody out there.” The ceremony will begin at 3pm at the Howling Hollow Dog Park.
