LEWISBURG — Bucknell University opens a new housing complex this month, accomplishing their goal of bringing 300 students back to campus. The $47-million, 165,000 square foot South Campus Apartments offer apartment-style living for 344 juniors and seniors.
The four residence halls and common building feature a la carte dining, large event space, and themed lounges. Amy Badal, Dean of Students, says students were involved in the planning and design. “A group of students met with the architects and shared their vision for what should be housed in these buildings, and the architects did a great job of reflecting that vision.”
Bucknell now limits off-campus housing to 200 seniors leaving many rental properties vacant in downtown Lewisburg. The Campus Master Plan was approved by the board of trustees in 2008.
