DANVILLE — Danville’s zoning hearing board has approved a 150-foot cell phone tower on the Danville Area Community Center property, noting the project will help the center pay its bills. The Press Enterprise the center stands to gain close to $500,000 over 30 years.
Two zoning board members gave their approval under the condition the tower not be surrounded by a chain link fence, but rather a brick or stucco facade to better blend in with the center. Some people living near the center have expressed opposition to the tower, arguing it would lower their property values. They also argued that radio waves emitted from the site could pose a health threat
