LEWISBURG — A Valley native and retired educator is now an author, and  is coming back to her hometown. Former Lewisburg resident Daisy Reiter of Phillipsburg, Pa., is returning for a book signing. In the book ‘Cora, It’s War,’ Reiter tells of a unique experience about her childhood growing up during World War II.

Reiter will sign books this Saturday, then return later for a tour, “We’re hoping in August to do a walking book tour and walk by the places mentioned in the book. Most of those buildings are still there. They’re not used for the same thing but they’re still existing.”

The story is an autobiography through the character of an eight-year old girl named Cora, who’s world is turned upside down by the events of Pearl Harbor, “Her life is changed so much because everything becomes scarce and shortage. And suddenly she decides she’s going to become part of the war effort.”

Reiter lived at 700 Market Street in Lewisburg. No exact date has been announced for the book tour, but she will be at a book signing 2pm this Saturday at Union County Historical Society’s Dale/Engel/Walker House.  You can find more information about the book at here. (Matt Catrillo)
