Memorial Day events around The Valley

 

MEMDAY_WKOKUNDATED — Many towns in The Valley are recognizing Memorial Day with events over the weekend.

 

Montandon: Parade will form at noon Sunday from Railroad Street and will move out at 1:00pm.  There will be a complimentary lunch after the parade served by the parade committee.

 

Selinsgrove: Victory Post #25 of the American Legion is sponsoring an annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. Events begin at 9am Monday at the Selinsgrove Borough Building with the mayor’s Memorial Day Address followed immediately by a parade. Selinsgrove High School Band will perform in the parade. There will be free admission and a hot dog picnic at the Selingrove Area Pool Monday.

 

Danville: Ceremonies begin at the Danville-Riverside Bridge at 10am where those buried and lost at sea will be remembered. After the ceremony, the parade will advance to Memorial Park. At Memorial Park, a program of remembrance will be held following the parade featuring Major General Randall R. Marchi.

 

A County Transit bus at the courthouse will be available to carry any veteran who cannot walk in the parade. All veterans and military vehicles are welcome to participate in the parade. Veterans and vehicles form on West Market Street by the Montour County Court House. In case of inclement weather, the Memorial Park ceremony will be held in the Middle School Auditorium.

 

Northumberland: Parade steps off at 10:30am Monday from King Street Park. The parade will proceed to Riverview Cemetery for a Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00am.

 

Lewisburg: Parade begins at 10:30am Monday, ending at the cemetery. Guest speaker will be Graham Showalter. In case of rain, the ceremony will move to the American Legion.

 

Milton: Service at Grandview Cemetery at 10:00am Monday with taps and a rifle salute by the American Legion.
