Judge Weighs Fees In Healthcare Workers Settlement

WILLIAMSPORT — A federal judge is being asked to approve more than $12 million in legal fees following a major healthcare worker settlement. PennLive.com reports the request stems from a $28.5 million agreement involving roughly 12,000 employees.

The workers were employed by Geisinger and the former Evangelical Community Hospital in Union, Snyder, Northumberland, Montour, Lycoming, and Columbia counties. The lawsuit alleged the systems agreed not to recruit each other’s employees, suppressing wages, claims the providers deny.

Each employee is guaranteed at least $250, with average payments estimated to be near $1,500. Judge Matthew Brann granted preliminary approval in November, with a final hearing set for .
