PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Get ready to bundle up.
Northeastern residents will endure bitterly cold temperatures as arctic air moves across the region.
The National Weather Service says Friday’s high temperatures will be single digits in portions of New England, western New York and Pennsylvania. It’ll be slightly warmer, in the middle teens, along the coast from Boston to Washington, D.C.
Some public and private schools, including dozens in Pennsylvania and Ohio, have canceled or delayed classes.
The cold weather caused problems Thursday for firefighters who had to battle flames and icy buildups. In Fairfield, Connecticut, crews had to be rotated at a roof fire because of freezing hose lines and ladders.
Overnight temperatures in some places dipped to within a degree or two of zero. Wind chills sent those temps plummeting even further. Click on Winternet to get the latest delays and cancellations.
