Daily Item: Sunbury Police Department to Become Accredited

The Daily Item reports the Sunbury Police Department will begin a yearlong process of becoming an accredited police department. The newspaper reports Police Chief Travis Bremigen asked city council to approve the $27,000 it will cost for the department to begin the process to become accredited. When the police department becomes accredited, they would be able to more easily obtain grants and other opportunities from within the state. The $27,000 will assist the department in the training and police and procedure overview required.
