DANVILLE — One of The Valley’s noted servicewomen has died. Colonel Anna Antonicci died Tuesday morning, she was 87-years-old. A native of Northumberland, she traveled the world with the US Army serving on distant military posts as a nurse, an administrator and officer. Here at home, she served at the Pentagon as one of the nation’s top military nurses.
Antonicci became a full colonel with stints at Walter Reed Medical Center in the US as well as duty stations in Germany, Japan and Vietnam. She also worked in The Valley serving in several charitable and non-profit endeavors.
She was a highly decorated officer in the US Army Nursing Corps. In recent years, Colonel Anna Antonicci was a resident of the Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville. A visitation will take place Friday in Northumberland and her funeral is this Saturday at St. Monica Church in Sunbury.
