Child pulled from creek survives

accidentDANVILLE — A child who was swept into a creek in West Buffalo Township last week has been released from Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.  The 22-month old Mifflinburg child was playing near the creek with his two older siblings when he fell into the swift moving creek along Emery Road and was missing for about 20 minutes.

A neighbor pulled the child from the creek and the Daily Item reports about 50 people had a hand in saving the child, by performing CPR.  The newspaper reports one hour and 41 minutes of CPR was performed until the child regained his pulse and heart rate.  Hospital officials say the boy has recovered neurologically as well, despite being submerged in icy water for 20 minutes. He was released from the hospital on Sunday following the accident last Wednesday.  (Ali Stevens)
