The warm, dry, breezy conditions have raised the brush and forest fire risk. There have been a series of outdoor fires this week. The Northumberland County Department of Pubic Safety issued an alert Friday. They say the National Weather Service in State College issued a Red Flag Warning for the entire area for Saturday from noon to 8pm. The same advisory will be posted tomorrow.
That means the risk of brush and forest fires is extremely high, and any fires that do start–are likely to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommend. People inĀ the outdoors are advised to use caution. Local counties have not imposed outdoor or open burning bans.
