UNDATED — Hundreds of Valley organizations are about to get a big boost…thanks to Raise the Region, and Alexander Family Dealerships.
Specifically, 260 non-profit groups are set to participate in the third annual Raise the Region fundraiser. Supported by the Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, and put on by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, Raise the Region is a 30-hour event that encourages donors to support area non-profits.
Jennifer Wilson, President and CEO of the foundation says the goal is to help area non-profits work with their donors to increase giving, “It’s an online giving event where we work with non-profits all across six counties for them to work with their donors and new donors, hopefully to encourage gifts of any size.”
She says supporters can donate online and help their favorite non-profits earn even more money, “You get on our website which is simply www.raisetheregion.org on March 11 and 12. We’ll start at 6:00pm on the 11th and for thirty hours, we will take donations through that site. There will be a whole host of prizes that non-profits can win by encouraging their donors and potential donors to give at certain points throughout the event.”
Additional stretching funds from Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships will add to the final total for each participating group. Â Wilson says the event is growing with 84 new groups registering this year. Last year more than a million dollars was donated during Raise the Region.
Raise the Region is Wednesday and Thursday, March 11 and 12, details are posted at WKOK.com. (Jennifer Wakeman)
