WILLIAMSPORT- Seven employees of the Northumberland County Weatherization Department are asking for a delay of their case against Commissioners Vinny Clausi and Steven Bridy. This comes after those employees sued the commissioners. The request to delay is based on the erroneous conclusions the employees have suffered no compensatory damages. They also say the election of new commissioners render the case moot.
Judge Matthew Brann issued an an order Wednesday saying the case should be delayed by 90 days until re-elected Commissioner Rich Shoch and new elected commissioners Sam Schicatanno and Kymberley Best reverse the decision as previously promised.
A federal judge who granted the motion to delay the case three months wants to see what the newly elected board of commissioners would do with the department. However, he didn’t give the employees a chance to file a response.
Now they are asking Brann to reconsider his decision. Clausi and Bridy voted to close the department by June 30 and contract the services to SEDA-Council of Governments. (Matt Catrillo)
