SUNBURY—Not right wing, not left wing but Centrists. This political group is forming with Americans who don’t associate with either major political party. Marla Haas, Chapter Leader of the Williamsport Centrist Project, “ A Centrists is someone that believes in the best of both major parties, but isn’t going to be beholding to the major political parties or the super packs that fund them because they are independent and they want what’s actually best for the country.”
With so many Americans in the middle of the political spectrum, the Williamsport Centrists believe there should be more representation for independents in Washington. Haas says, “In a time especially when around half of Americans are independent we really need some senators in the center that can essentially hold the bargaining power.”
The Williamsport Chapter has hopes to hold volunteer events once a month to benefit the local community and get the word out about their project.
