SUNBURY — Cleanup operations have begun, following a fire at SRI’s Welcome Center. Meghan Beck, president of Sunbury Revitalization Incorporated, says it will take a day or two to clean up, but they expect operations to be back to normal this week.
Beck says, “Everything seems to be getting back in order very quickly. Everybody has really chipped in to help get the place cleaned and reorganized. There was a lot of water damage in our warehouse, so it was just moving all the supplies we use for our events, allowing service people to come in and clean that up, and then afterward we can put all our belongings back.”
SRI stores the supplies and equipment for their yearly events inside the warehouse. Beck says they are lucky the fire was controlled quickly, before it could cause more damage, “Thank you to the fire department for the quick response, because they really prevented it from going very far. And thank you to the Eagles for having us here at the property. We really appreciate this great location right here on Market Street.”
Despite the setback, SRI will still be hosting the 2nd Annual Lake Augusta Renaissance Festival this Saturday from noon to 6:00p.m. You can learn more about that event on Facebook. (Codi Jade)
