BERWICK — A Washingtonville area man has been charged with statutory sexual assault after police say he had sex with a 14-year-old girl he met on Facebook. The Press Enterprise reports 19-year-old Kyle James Rowe claims the girl’s Facebook page said she was 17, and he didn’t learn of her real age until after he had sex with her.
The girl’s father contacted Berwick police and Rowe was charged with statutory sexual assault. The incident took place in Berwick and police were notified on January 12. The girl allegedly told police Rowe knew she was 14. Rowe is free on bail and has a hearing in District Court on February 5. (Ali Stevens)
