Valley Volunteer Fire Companies May Benefit from FEMA Funds

HARRISBURG — Local volunteer fire companies may be able to benefit from federal funding. The Firefighters Association of the State of Pennsylvania has been awarded a FEMA SAFER Recruitment and Retention Grant worth over $1 million. The grant period runs from December 2024 through December 2028.

The association says the grants will support scholarships for higher education, Firefighter I or EMT training, and local-level grants. Volunteer departments can apply for these funds to boost recruitment and retention. More details will be shared through FASP’s website and social media channels.
