Valley United Way to Distribute $100,000 in Federal Funds

SUNBURY  – Regional United Way will distribute food and shelter funds.

Susquehanna Valley United Way will distribute $100,000 in federal funds to support emergency food and shelter programs in Northumberland, Union, Snyder, and Columbia counties.

Christine Orlando, SVUW Director of Community Impact said, “We are grateful to ensure these funds aid those most in need.” She said 47% of local households struggle to afford necessities, making these funds critical.

Funds include about $40,500 for Northumberland, $13,500 for Union, $16,000 for Snyder, and $30,000 for Columbia counties. Local nonprofits can apply at www.svuw.org. by November 29, 2024.

The United Way will work with a local board, including representatives from groups like The Salvation Army and Central Susquehanna Opportunities, to allocate funds effectively.
