MIFFLINBURG – A group of Valley first-responders are set to walk over 30 miles in honor of firefighters killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. The Daily Item reports a group of about 25 Valley firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement officers will walk 34.3 miles beginning at 3 a.m. September 10 in Lycoming County. The walk is in memory of 343 firefighters killed on 9/11.
The group will walk from Hughesville to the Mifflinburg Hose Co. One of the organizers, Jarred Fry, says this is their second annual walk. They’re due to reach the Mifflinburg area by about 2 p.m. September 11.
The group will make its way south on Route 405 through Watsontown and Milton. They’ll then head west on Route 45 through Lewisburg. When the walkers reach Mifflinburg, Fry asks residents meet them along Route 45 to walk the final 1.5-mile stretch together to the fire company on Chestnut Street. (Matt Catrillo)
