Valley Avoids Major Flooding

STATE COLLEGE – The worst of the storm is over. Yesterday’s tumultuous day of snow, heavy rain and high winds is behind us.  PPL said they had tens-of-thousands of power outages throughout the day yesterday.  Rainfall amounts were between one and two inches locally.

The National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center is reporting ‘no change’ in the Susquehanna River level predictions. All points along the river are expected to see crests in the ‘caution’ or ‘action’ stages Thursday. All crests are forecast to be below ‘flood stages,’ and no major flooding is expected. Flood watches and wind advisories are still posted.

Today’s forecast calls for cloudy conditions and 43 degrees. It will be another windy day, with wind speeds between 10 to 30 miles per hour. PennDOT is out with a list of road closures in The Valley.
