SUNBURY – Two men were swept over the fabridam Saturday and are okay today… We have an update after two people were rescued from the Susquehanna River.
Second Assistant Sunbury Fire Chief Ron Rupp tells WKOK two fishermen were in a boat when the motor became inoperable as they approached the fabridam. He says they jumped out of the boat in an attempt to swim for shore but they were swept over the fabridam.
They were rescued by other fisherman who also towed the boat back. Rupp says the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission are investigating. The identities of the two fishermen were not disclosed.
Around 3pm Saturday, Northumberland County Communications dispatched crews from Sunbury, Upper Augusta, Shamokin Dam and DH&L. EMS from Americus Ambulance, Area Services Ambulance, and DH&L were also called to the scene.
