LEWISBURG – If you have ever thought about running for public office, but felt it was too hard to do, a local organization is trying to simplify the process. The Union County League of Women Voters is hosting an upcoming workshop for people considering a run for office.
Janice Bigelow is president of the Union County League of Women Voters, “We know that there are people out there who want to run but they are just stymied by all of the things they have to do. Our workshop is designed to answer questions such as how do they get started, how do they file their nominations, what do they have to fill out for those nominations, and how do they get volunteers to help in their campaign.”
She continued, “They will be hearing from people from the elections boards of Snyder and Union Counties. Greg Catherman and Pat Nace will be there and they will walk them through the nomination process. They will help answer their questions and give them the dates that these things have to be submitted by.”
The workshop will be held on Saturday February 21 and will feature a panel of experts who have run for office. The workshop is at the Union County Government Center from 9:15 a.m. to noon. You can register online at http://lewisburg.palwv.org. (Ali Stevens)
