NEW BERLIN – There are some events coming up in the weeks ahead to showcase Sun Area Technical Institute in New Berlin. Jen Hain is administrative director at Sun Tech and says there is a big need for skilled trades in The Valley and that’s why they have so much to offer students.
Hain said, “We have a little gem in our community and I’m not sure everyone knows all of the things that we do. We do have 18 unique programs and 19 classes all together. We do offer adult education courses in all of those areas as well.” Hain says day and evening classes are available for adults with busy schedules.
Also students who are looking to further their education can benefit, “We also offer over 40 industry certifications to our students. We offer college credits as well. Last year we had over 42 students earn 300 credits during the course of the year. They also can complete a program with study, which is a state aligned curriculum. Those students earn 6 college credits and they can transfer those credits across the state to over 300 colleges and some of our bordering states as well.”
An upcoming Cruise-In fundraiser is being hosted by the Sun Tech Foundation, “The Foundation supports the students needs at the school to get the certifications and equipment that they need. That cruise-in is being scheduled for September 24. It can be found on our website at SunTech.org. It’s a rain or shine event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s really a social event. There is no cost to get in and there is no judging of cars, so if it’s not spotless, it’s okay. It’s really about coming out and seeing what your neighbors have to offer.”
There will also be an open house at Sun Tech on October 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. which is open to the public. Te hear more about Sun Tech, you can listen to Jen Hain on WKOK Sunrise online at www.wkok.com. (Ali Stevens)
