HARRISBURG – A 54-acre crop farm in Union County is one of three farmlands being preserved in the 23rd senatorial district.
State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23rd, Williamsport) announced this week the Lucas, Melinda, and Deborah Criswell #3 Farm in Kelly Township is being preserved by the state Agricultural Land Preservation Board. Senator Yaw says the board is purchasing the farm’s conservation easements.
Yaw says this allows to slow the loss of prime farmland for non-agricultural uses.
Yaw says the three farms are part of over 2,600 acres of land across the state, which includes 35 farms in 18 counties.
