LEWISBURG — ‘ARPA Funds will have a great impact for our county,’ Union County Commissioner Chairman Jeff Reber expressed that optimism about the approximately $8.7 million dollars in American Rescue Plan funds to be disbursed after the application process. The update was presented at the Union County Commissioners work session Tuesday.
The applications will go live on the US Commissioners’ website in the near future. Applicants have until May 31 to apply.
Commissioner Stacy Richards listed the eligible groups: three municipalities, non-profits, and authorities. The time frame for spending the money is through 2026, once awarded. Reber says the county may hold back some of the allocation for future years in order to help the county later.
The commissioners say they are looking to help the most people. Commissioners say their decision making will be assisted by a Harrisburg-area consultant, who he says assisted Northumberland County with their positive results.
