LEWISBURG— An area congressman says the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway project will increase and expand business in the Valley. U.S. Congressman Tom Marino (R-10th, Cogan Station) spoke at the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Joint Legislative Breakfast and said the ease of getting on and off the thruway will be good for business.
Marino said, “I don’t hesitate to get off the highway, to see what’s there, and to get to the old-style general stores and things of that nature. So I think people will be much more inclined to do that and actually I think it’s going to create and expand business.”
Marino said, “It’s going to alleviate a lot of congestion. I don’t mean alleviating congestion by diverting it somewhere else and no cars going through here. It’s going to be a beautiful, safe, larger road on which people can travel.”
PennDOT will break ground this fall on the first part of the Thruway project. Marino encourages people to contact him with any concerns they have at www.marino.house.gov. (Lauren Koch)
