NEW COLUMBIA –State police say they have solved several of the area armed robberies and have arrested two New Columbia residents. 47-year-old Richard Bennett is accused of robbing the Sunoco Short Stop Mart in Mifflinburg and the Sunoco A-Plus Mart in Allenwood. Bennett was also charged with three other robberies at gas stations in Lycoming County.
Also arrested was 47-year-old Georgia Sampsell who allegedly confessed to transporting Bennett to the businesses so he could rob them. They were both arrested and Bennett was unable to post bail and is being held in the Lycoming County Prison. The Allenwood store was robbed on Christmas Day and the Mifflinburg store was robbed three days later. (Ali Stevens)
