COAL TOWNSHIP — Crews battled a structure fire Thursday evening just outside of Shamokin. Around 6pm, crews were called to North Fir Street in Coal Township for a fire that went to two alarms. Fire was said to have started on the second floor above the garage, where the family of five lived.
Officials say the family was home during the fire, but everyone got out safely. Multiple departments were on-scene assisting with battling the blaze that was contained to just the second floor. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.
STILLWATER — WBRE is reporting… A building on McHenry Street in Stillwater, Columbia County, was destroyed by fire Thursday morning. The Benton Fire Department says crews responded around 8:30am and found flames pouring from every window.
The building was unoccupied at the time, freezing conditions posed challenges, requiring assistance from seven departments and an excavator to reach hotspots after the metal roof collapsed. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 10 to 15 minutes. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
