SUNBURY – A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a home in Sunbury that had several apartments. The fire was reported inside a home at Race Street and Catawissa Avenue, next to the East End Fire Company.
First Assistant Fire Chief Russ Wertz was one of the first on the scene, “Approximately 5:30 we were called here. We had heavy fire outside the upstairs window and coming through the downstairs door.”
Wertz said there were a number of apartments in the home, “It had six apartments. Two of them were occupied with one person in each apartment and they both made it out.”
They are investigating what caused the fire, but do know it started in the kitchen area of the home. No injuries were reported. (Ali Stevens/Matt Catrillo)
