DANVILLE — For the 15th year in a row, an event took place Tuesday at the Danville Ronald McDonald House. Previously known as ‘Food Check-Out Day, it involves raising money, collecting donated food and delivering it to the house Danville.
Food Check Out Day was part of the Farmers Care program, which culminates on a day that focuses on the value of Pennsylvania agriculture; members of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau bring donations to the house. The program has donated over $281,000 worth of food, products, and cash donations since 1999.
They gather donations by holding food and fund drives around the state and then chapter representatives converge on the Ronald McDonald houses across the state. The Ronald McDonald House is a “home away from home” for the families of pediatric patients at Geisinger Medical Center and is in its 34th year or operation.
