Train rides coming to Lewisburg for a 3rd year

NorthShore2engLEWISBURG – The leaders of the North Shore Railroad are excited to bring train rides back to  Lewisburg this summer…the excursions will be in conjunction with the Union County Veterans 4th of July Celebration.  The train rides will take place after the parade on June 27, according to Diana Williams, treasurer and controller for North Shore.

Williams said, “We are going to have the train in place on Market Street at the start of the parade.  After the parade is finished, we will then take the train down to the president’s house, where we will prepare for a train ride at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m. A ticket is required to ride on the train and there are about 225 tickets available for each ride.” You can get the tickets by calling Williams at 570-473-7949 starting June 17.

Williams says the tickets are free but there is limited availability, “We are asking for a monetary donation and 100% of that monetary donation will go back to the parade committee and the Freedom Bike Ride.  We are hoping that everybody will come out and support both of those causes.”

The train will travel from Lewisburg to Winfield, traveling along the river, and then returning to Lewisburg.  You can find out more about the train rides and all of the events planned for the 21st annual Union County Veterans 4th of July Celebration online at www.unioncountyveterans4thofjuly.com.  (Ali Stevens)
