The 2024 Shikellamy Wall of Distinction induction ceremony is this evening, and three honorees will be named.
Cory Fasold, a 1976 graduate, will be honored for his long-standing commitment to the Sunbury community. During his time at Shikellamy, Cory was a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Key Club, and Salutatorian of his class. After earning a degree in accounting from Shippensburg University, Cory spent over 40 years as a controller at Sunbury Motor Company while managing and eventually owning Brewers’ Outlet. He is deeply involved in numerous local organizations, including the Sunbury Kiwanis, Spreading Antlers Foundation, and Haven Ministry.
Andrew Long, a 1992 Shikellamy graduate, is being honored for his leadership in both the automotive industry and the local community. As co-captain of the Shikellamy basketball team, Andrew helped guide them to an impressive 20-5 record. After being recruited to play basketball at Juniata College, he left during his junior year to join his family’s business, W&L Subaru. Under his ownership, the dealership grew from a small operation into one of the top 20 Subaru dealers in the country, now employing 168 people. Andrew’s commitment to the community is reflected in his support of local initiatives, including donations to Shikellamy and active involvement in the Chamber of Commerce.
Mark Lawrence, a 1977 graduate, is recognized for his nearly half-century of involvement in Shikellamy Theatre and his career in radio. Mark’s love for theatre began backstage at Shikellamy in 1976, and he went on to support the program through his work at WKOK, where he promoted student productions and local talent. He currently serves as Director of Community Engagement at the Danville Area Community Center. He has been very active in the community and was named ‘Citizen of the Year’ in Sunbury.
The ceremony will also feature recognition of the Alumni Wall of Distinction Committee and the Class of 2024. The alumni Wall of Distinction is at Shikellamy High School. Honorees include Shikellamy High School graduates that have distinguished themselves on the local, state, national, or international level. The purpose of the Alumni Wall of Distinction is to provide recognition to Shikellamy High School graduates that have achieved a high level of prominence in their personal and professional lives.
