There could be something very wrong with your Intel device

SUNBURY – You are right to be concerned about your privacy if you use a computer or mobile device which uses Intel chips, which many do. Bill Geise, President Asuro IT and founder and owner of the former Geise Associates, gave some warnings on WKOK Sunrise.

Geise says there are vulnerabilities called ‘Meltdown’ and ‘Spectre’ which can take advantage of how processors were designed, “Mostly it affects Intel processors, which is many of the machines that are out there today. The spectre component of it also affects pretty much every processor out there…computers, tablets, phones.”

Geise says this allows anyone to access information in memory of your computer or mobile device, “The problem is not so much that things will stop working, but that the data you’re working on can be seen by other people and captured by other people.”

Geise says it’s something that can’t be fixed right now, only prevented. You can do so by obtaining the patch through suggested updates to your computer or device. You can hear more from Geise’s WKOK Sunrise interview at WKOK.com. (Matt Catrillo)
