The high speed internet issue in The Valley

SUNBURY – A survey of the members of the Greater Susquehanna Chamber of Commerce has revealed some compelling results. The survey, which is conducted every four years, had a focus on improving high speed internet services.

Sam Haulman, General Manager of Service Electric Cablevision, was on WKOK’s On The Mark program discussing the results, “Over the past five years the reliance upon internet access by businesses has certainly increased significantly, and so has our focus on bringing the service levels too, and making them available to the person so they can have the tool that they need to perform their business.”

The number of businesses who said they didn’t have access to high speed internet 2 years ago was 82%. According to this survey, that number is down to 55%, and Haulman says they are always trying to improve, “Focus on the service levels that we make available, as well as continuing to make significant investments in our network to drive fiber optic cable deeper into that network and bring the fiber closer to businesses and homes; making their services more reliable.”

Haul says there’s more to it than just wires, information is key, “A big part has been making these businesses aware of the services we have available, so it’s been a combination of things there.”
