SELINSGROVE— A “first” and a “last” for 460 seniors at Susquehanna University during commencement ceremonies held on Wednesday afternoon. The students were the first class to graduate as “River Hawks” since the change of the university mascot last fall. And, they were the last graduating class for President Jay Lemons who leaves the university in late June after being president at SU for 16 years.
Jonathan Stangfeld gave the keynote address. Strangfeld is the chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial and is emeritus board chair of the university. He received an honoray degree of humane letters at that graduation ceremony in the Garrett Sports Complex at Susquehanna University. (Chad Hershberger)
